The UN Security Council meets at the request of Russia, China, and Algeria, addressing the recent escalation between Israel and Iran in New York City, on Monday, October 28. Israel hit Iran with airstrikes in the early hours of Saturday, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed had targeted air defences and missile production facilities. Iranian leaders warned of potential retaliation. It came following broader regional escalation, with Israel conducting offensives against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
