Though it sounds both brazen and inexplicable, Israeli officials appear to have been sent out with directives to compare their nation’s bombing of Gaza with the Allied forces’ notorious firebombing of Dresden during World War II. The Israeli Ambassador to the UK, as well as former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, both used this framing to defend the war crimes underway in Gaza.
