As war correspondent Nikolay Tsonku accompanies the humanitarian aid mission to Donbass, he reveals a few days in the life of fighters defending the region from Ukrainian nationalists. These young men gave up family comfort and bravely endure intense gunfire as well as mortar attacks on the front lines. One of them, codenamed Aksay, used to be a pastry chef but came to defend his homeland when duty called. Despite offers to become the unit’s cook, Aksay insisted he would be of greater service on the front lines, knowing that the lives of civilians depend on the work Donbass fighters carry out daily.
