The mystery over Nord Stream sabotage still remains unsolved. Both Russia and Ukraine have rubbished a New York Times report which, citing U.S. officials, blamed a pro-Ukraine group for the explosions that damaged the pipelines. Russia has called the reports a ‘coordinated effort to divert attention’. Kyiv has also dismissed the NYT report. In Sept 2022, a series of explosions destroyed the Nord Stream pipelines which shipped natural gas from Russia to Germany. While the West and Ukraine blame Russia, Moscow has maintained that it has no involvement in the Nord Stream sabotage. Russia blames the U.S. for the damage to the crucial pipelines.
