Teaching Russia a lesson has never been an easy undertaking for the Europeans. Two centuries ago, Napoleon, despite considering Russia a natural ally, decided to punish it for rebuking a French embargo and lost much of his army in that effort. In the 20th century, the Germans made their move and met the same fate. Can Europe close its historical gestalt this time around, by joining forces against Russia in Ukraine?
