‘Most regrettable’: Hong Kong’s chief executive says US ‘human rights’ bill creates ‘instability’

Hong Kong’s chief executive Carrie Lam slammed a “human rights and democracy” bill recently signed into law by US President Donald Trump, which declares Washington’s support for the territory’s protest movement.

In her first comments on the legislation, which became law last week, Lam said it was “wholly unnecessary,” and could negatively affect business confidence in the city.
