Canadian convicted of espionage said to be accused of sharing illegally obtained images of Chinese military gear

Chinese state-run newspaper Global Times has claimed Canadian citizen Michael Spavor, convicted of espionage in August, recorded images of Chinese military equipment before illegally distributing it outside of the Asian nation.

The news organization published the claim, which it attributed to a source close to the matter, a month after the Canadian was sentenced to 11 years in prison, ordered to be deported from the country, and forced to hand over $7,715 worth of personal property.
