The number of civilians killed or hurt in the war in Afghanistan has been sharply increasing since the Western coalition began pulling its soldiers out of the country, a UN report says.
A total of 1,659 civilians were killed and 3,254 injured in the first half of 2021, which is a 47% increase from the same period in 2020, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in its mid-year report on Monday.
