Tributes have been paid to a teacher slain in Tuesday’s school shooting in the Russian city of Kazan, after it was reported she lost her life trying to protect children in her care when a former student opened fire, killing nine.
A law enforcement source told TASS that Elvira Ignatieva, a 25-year-old who had taught English at School No. 175 for four years, was shot by the lone gunman on Tuesday morning.
