Jailed Russian activist Navalny moved to prison hospital after almost 3 weeks on ‘hunger strike,’ allies express fears for health

Russia’s prison service has announced that opposition figure Alexey Navalny has been moved from jail to a specialist hospital facility for convicts. His supporters claim the activist has been refusing food for almost three weeks.

Navalny allegedly began his ‘hunger strike’ to protest being refused permission to see a doctor of his choice for his leg pains. He has been complaining of health problems since late March, when his lawyers claimed that he was losing sensation in one of his limbs as well as being deprived of sleep by prison guards, a practice they labelled “torture.”
