Riot police and protesters have clashed in Berlin following a ruling by Germany’s constitutional court that the capital’s state government could not impose a controversial rent freeze due to existing federal legislation.
As many as 10,000 people took to the city’s streets on Thursday, local paper Berliner Zeitung reported, with many banging pan lids as a form of noisy protest and call of attention.
