Hundreds of detained anti-coup protesters released in Myanmar – media

More than 600 detainees

More than 600 detainees have abruptly been released from prison in Myanmar, media have reported, citing lawyers and eyewitnesses. Almost all of those released had been detained during the crackdown on the anti-coup protests.

The detainees were released from Insein prison of Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, on Wednesday. Some 16 buses carrying the freed protesters left the penal facility early in the morning, according to lawyer Khin Maung Myint.
