The EU has “absolutely no need of Sputnik V,” a top EU official has said, insisting the bloc will be able to reach “continent-wide immunity” by mid-summer through its vaccination drive, which has thus far been plagued by setbacks.

The bold remarks regarding the Russian-made vaccine were delivered by EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton on Sunday as he spoke to France’s TF1 TV.
