The number of far-right extremists in the German Armed Forces has grown by almost a third, while the number of military personnel rejecting the post-WWII German state has almost doubled, a commissioner told Germany’s parliament.
German military counterintelligence has found a total of 477 suspected right-wing extremists within the ranks of the country’s army last year, Bundestag Armed Forces Commissioner Eva Hoegl told MPs, citing data provided by the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD). The number of such cases has grown by 114, up from 363 in 2019, Hoegl said.
