German lawmakers have formed a group in defense of WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange who is fighting extradition to the US from a high security prison in Britain.
The group includes members of major political parties currently present in the Bundestag – Frank Heinrich (Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union), Frank Schwabe (Social Democratic Party), Bijan Djir-Sarai (Free Democratic Party), Sevim Dagdelen (the Left), and Margit Stumpp (the Greens).
