The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, has hit out at Emmanuel Macron over his recent remarks about Islam, branding them “stupid” and asking why it was “OK” to insult the Prophet Mohammed but illegal to doubt the Holocaust.
Khamenei became the latest Muslim leader to express his outrage at Western perceptions of Islam in a war of words that erupted in the wake of the killing of French teacher Samuel Paty in Paris on October 16.
