IFJ: Australia – Facebook is to ban users from sharing news on its platforms if a draft bill to make them pay for news content becomes law. We call on lawmakers to ensure tech giants pay a fair share for the content they are exploiting for free. For decades, Google and Facebook have built a fortune upon media workers all over the world. Now they must pay their fair share. We condemn Facebook’s threats, which should not deter the Government from continuing to implement the mandatory code.
