Scientists are warning that Britons may face a bout of extreme cold weather on par with 2018’s ‘Beast from the East’ after a split in the polar vortex, but the ‘La Nina’ event also threatens the UK with stormy weather.
A new study led by researchers at the Universities of Bristol, Exeter, and Bath examined 40 observed sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) events which occurred over the last 60 years.
