Supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building in Washington, DC, on Wednesday to protest against the certification of the Electoral College vote, which would have decisively confirmed Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
“At this hour, our democracy is under unprecedented assault, unlike anything we’ve seen in modern times. An assault on the citadel of liberty: the Capitol itself,” Biden said while addressing the nation on Wednesday.
