First Russian LNG cargo reaches Japan via Arctic sea route

Russia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from the Yamal project has reached Japan after sailing for two weeks along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), according to the country’s largest independent gas producer, Novatek.

The cargo, delivered by LNG tanker ‘Vladimir Rusanov’, reached Japan on schedule, the company said in a statement on Friday. Novatek said the shipment marked the “first successful entrance and unloading of an Arc 7 ice-class LNG tanker in a Japanese port.”
