Experts can’t always predict the path of a hurricane, but what IS predictable when a hurricane approaches is that news networks will send poor saps down to the impact zone to report on the rain, high winds and destruction. And, as happened during one report on Hurricane Ian, if there’s not much rain, wind and destruction in the reporter’s vicinity, well, that’s when the reporter gets to play pretend, occasionally leading to embarrassing results.
