Beijing is suspending Hong Kong’s crime agreements with Britain, Canada and Australia, China’s foreign ministry says, because they are “politicizing judicial cooperation” by halting their extradition treaties with Hong Kong.

The “wrong action” taken by the three countries in relation to Hong Kong has “seriously hurt” the basis of judicial collaboration, China’s foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a press briefing on Tuesday, the Straits Times reports. Beijing in response is ending its mutual assistance for criminal matters.
