Reality of the Hong Kong protests, planting billions of trees won’t save us

Global Look Press / Jayne Russell

Lee sat down with RT correspondent Michele Greenstein, who just came back from covering the protests in Hong Kong. She tells Lee about the complex story on the ground. Many have legitimate grievances, but she also points out that the leaders among the protesters have connections to Washington.

Lee also spoke with Anne Peterman, the director of the Global Justice Ecology Project. Peterman is skeptical of the narrative that we can solve climate change by just planting billions of trees. She believes that we need to confront the fossil fuel industry and protect the ecosystems that we still have.
