Around 162,000 Russians died because of Covid-19 last year. That’s according to preliminary data from the federal statistics agency, which has revealed that the country’s death rate in 2020 shot up by around 18% compared to 2019.
Rosstat said that approximately 323,800 more people died in 2020 than the previous year, around half of them due to Covid-19.
